About Empat Speech

EmpatSpeech is a mission-driven speech-language services organization dedicated to expanding access to high-quality, culturally responsive SLP services for students who need them most. We partner with schools to place trained, supported SLPs directly on campus, bringing our evidence-based curriculum, supervision model, and professional development infrastructure into the heart of each school community.

The Opportunity

As a School-Based SLP with Empat Speech, you will deliver speech-language services directly to students on a school campus, using Empat Speech's curriculum, assessment frameworks, and clinical tools. This is a unique embedded role: you are part of the school community every day, yet your clinical home is Empat Speech. You'll benefit from robust onboarding, ongoing coaching, and a collaborative team of SLPs, while making a tangible, daily difference for students.

What Makes This Role Distinct

Unlike a district-employed SLP or an independent contractor, you will:

  • Be employed, trained, and clinically supervised by Empat Speech
  • Follow Empat Speech's curriculum, documentation standards, and service delivery models
  • Serve students within a school setting alongside school staff, educators, and administrators
  • Act as a professional bridge, representing Empat Speech's standards while building trust with school partners
  • Participate in Empat Speech professional development, peer consultation, and quality reviews

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Service Delivery

  • Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations using Empat Speech-approved assessment protocols
  • Develop individualized treatment plans aligned to Empat Speech's curriculum framework and each student's IEP goals
  • Deliver individual and small-group therapy sessions (in-person, on campus) with fidelity to Empat Speech's evidence-based approaches
  • Implement culturally and linguistically responsive practices for diverse student populations
  • Collect and analyze session data to monitor progress and adjust treatment accordingly

School Community Integration

  • Build and maintain collaborative, professional relationships with teachers, special education coordinators, school psychologists, administrators, and families
  • Participate in IEP meetings, student support team meetings, and school-based collaboration as a representative of Empat Speech
  • Communicate effectively with school staff about student progress while maintaining FERPA compliance and Empat Speech confidentiality standards
  • Navigate situations where school expectations and Empat Speech clinical standards may differ — escalating to Empat Speech supervision when needed
  • Serve as a visible, trusted presence in the school building

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete all clinical documentation in Empat Speech's designated system within required timelines
  • Maintain compliance with IDEA, state special education regulations, and Empat Speech quality standards
  • Ensure all services are documented in accordance with IEP mandates and Empat Speech record-keeping protocols
  • Participate in Empat Speech data reviews, outcome reporting, and quality improvement processes

Professional Development & Team Participation

  • Attend all required Empat Speech training, onboarding modules, and continuing education sessions
  • Engage in regular supervision with Empat Speech Clinical Supervisor
  • Contribute to peer consultation, team calls, and Empat Speech community of practice
  • Pursue ongoing professional development in alignment with ASHA and Empat Speech standards

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree (MS or MA) in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA or CCC in active pursuit
  • Current, valid SLP licensure in New Mexico
  • School-based or pediatric clinical experience (practicum or post-graduate)
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, equity-centered practice

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of school-based SLP experience post-graduation
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, including ELL students
  • Familiarity with IDEA, IEP processes, and special education law
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills (Spanish strongly valued)
  • Experience with third-party or contracted service delivery in educational settings

What Empat Speech Offers

  • Structured onboarding and curriculum training
  • Regular peer consultation and team calls
  • Clear escalation pathways for school conflicts
  • Career growth within Empat Speech's growing network

Pay: $55.00 - $58.00 per hour
