About Planet FWD

Planet FWD is on a mission to help address climate change by making it easier to bring climate-friendly consumer products to market. Our founder, Julia Collins, has spent her career building food tech companies.

Planet FWD is the leading climate action platform for consumer companies to tackle climate change. Leveraging the largest life cycle assessment (LCA) database for agricultural production systems in North America, we help brands to measure and reduce their carbon emissions. Planet FWD's core technology has robust Scope 3 emissions modeling capabilities, making us the best solution in the market for consumer brands where more than 85% of emissions come from the supply chain.

We believe that together we have the power to tackle climate change. You’ll have the opportunity to build relationships with our small and highly passionate team. When working remotely, we have daily team check-ins and weekly company check-ins. Our core values are: grace, integrity, equity, courage, commitment, clarity, judgment, and catalytic creativity. A summary of our company culture can be found here.

About the Role

Planet FWD is looking for a Full-Stack developer to join our Product Engineering team from Latin America. This is a rapidly growing team within a fast-paced start-up environment where you will make a significant impact from day one, help shape the company, and contribute meaningfully to the mitigation of climate change. This role will get you deep in the weeds of understanding where carbon emissions are coming from and how we can support our customers in reducing their climate impact.

The Full-Stack Developer will report directly to our CTO, Dean Malmgren.

We are looking for a teammate we can count on to:

  • Effectively develop high-quality software in an agile development environment, appropriately balancing the tradeoffs associated with different possible solutions
  • Collaborate respectfully with the entire product engineering team—other full-stack developers, data scientists, designers, and product managers—as well as other teams across the organization—customer success, climate science experts, etc.
  • Work with product owners and team leads to understand how features will work within our application stack with a focus on a delightful user experience
  • Implement features across the stack: update database schema, implement backend functionality, update user interface and add automated tests
  • Identify opportunities for improving our existing software and infrastructure to be prioritized in our Backlog
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and positive environment that is great to work in
  • Follow Agile methodologies for software development

Relevant experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of full-stack software development experience
  • Confident communicating independently in English (B2+)
  • Proven ability to work effectively in teams
  • Proven experience writing front- and back-end of applications with HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, Typescript and React
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
  • Experience with building RESTful applications
  • Familiarity with Remix, Prisma and Python is a bonus, but learnable by qualified candidates
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools for developing software for scalability and reliability through Github Actions

How we’ll take care of you:

  • Competitive annual base salary in your region with significant equity
  • The equivalent of health insurance and 401(k) benefits in your home country
  • Other benefits include Unlimited PTO, Home Office stipend, and a Coworking space membership
  • Our remote team gathers periodically to enjoy each others’ company. Team members located in the same area have the option to co-work in the same location (typically once a week to once a month).
