Job Summary

We are hiring multiple junior and senior CNC Machinists for our high-mix, low-volume precision machine shop, producing complex, tight-tolerance parts for the aerospace and defense industries. We’re experiencing strong growth and scaling our machining team accordingly, building a balanced crew of developing talent and seasoned experts.

Unlike high-volume aluminum production shops, we work with difficult materials (Inconel, high-temp alloys) where tool life is short and tolerances are unforgiving, and our workmanship standards are absolute. Prepare to do some of the best work of your life.

Our machinists own work end-to-end, from setup through final inspection, and play a direct role in quality, delivery performance, and continuous improvement. Whether you're an intermediate machinist on the rise or a true industry veteran, if you have strong fundamentals, a genuine passion for machining, and the skill to prove it, we want to talk.

Compensation

  • Junior Machinist: $28 - 34 / hr
  • Senior Machinist: $34 - $48 / hr
  • Over $125k - possible total comp after overtime

Shifts

  • First shift:
  • Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm
  • Friday from 6am - noon

Consistent Overtime

  • 6+ hours / week baked into the schedule
  • More available to those who want it

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision
  • 401(k) with match
  • PTO

Responsibilities

Depending on skill level, you will be responsible for:

  • Setup & Operation: Perform setups and operation on CNC milling and turning centers (DMG Mori, YCM, multi-axis, and 5-axis machines) using provided setup sheets and engineered tool kits.
  • Precision Inspection: Verify part dimensions and tolerances (+/- .0005” or tighter) using manual measurement tools, including Manual CMMs (Brown & Sharpe), optical comparators, height gages, and micrometers.
  • Cosmetic Excellence: Adhere to strict workmanship standards; ensure parts are free of scratches, dents, or mic marks ("jewelry quality") before they move to the finishing department.
  • Blueprint Reading & GD&T: Interpret technical drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to understand critical features like true position, profile, and parallelism.
  • Process Control: Monitor tool life and wear on hard metals/alloys; utilize probing systems for part location and verification.
  • Documentation & Traceability: Maintain 100% traceability on materials and parts, including recording heat numbers and serializing parts as required by ISO/Aerospace standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Maintain a clean, organized work area (5S) and provide feedback to engineering on tooling or program efficiency.

Qualifications

Junior Machinists

  • This profile is ideal for a skilled machinist with strong fundamentals who can run proven processes independently but is ready to learn advanced setups.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience: 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a job-shop or precision environment.
  • Proven Process Execution: Ability to take a "proven" job (with established programs, tool lists, and setup sheets) and run it end-to-end with minimal supervision.
  • Manual Metrology: Confidence using standard manual inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) to verify your own work.
  • Machining Fundamentals: Experience on 3/4-axis mills or lathes with the ability to find work offsets (G54-G59), touch off tools, and make wear offset adjustments to hold size.
  • Blueprint Literacy: Ability to read standard prints and identify key features and tolerances.
  • The "Growth Mindset": You must be coachable. We are looking for people who want to learn how to set up 5-axis machines, learn manual CMM inspection, and advance to "A-Level" work.

Senior Machinist:

  • This profile is for a true setup expert who can take unproven parts, troubleshoot variables, and achieve First Article success on the toughest jobs in the shop.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience: 7+ years in precision machining (Aerospace, Defense, or Medical preferred).
  • Unproven Part Setup: Ability to take a raw blueprint and a program for a part the shop has never seen before, troubleshoot tooling/process variables, and dial it in efficiently.
  • Advanced Metrology (Manual CMM): Must have the ability to inspect complex geometry independently using a Manual CMM (e.g., Brown & Sharpe). You must know how to align, rotate, and translate to calculate true position and profile deviations manually.
  • GD&T Mastery: Strong ability to interpret complex technical drawings and apply advanced GD&T (e.g., true position, parallelism, profile of a surface, concentricity, flatness, coaxiality).
  • High-Nickel Alloy Expertise: Proven experience holding +/- .0005” (5 tenths) or tighter on difficult materials (Inconel, Monel, Titanium, Hastelloy) without sacrificing tool life.
  • Multi-Axis Equipment: Experience setting up complex multi-axis equipment (5-axis DMG Mori mills and/or 9-axis mill-turn centers).
  • Code Fluency: Ability to fluently read G-code / M-code at the controller and efficiently edit programs to maintain quality and throughput.
  • High-Mix / High-Setup: Comfortable in an environment with frequent changeovers (30%+ setup time) involving complex fixtures and 10+ tools per job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $48.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
