Overview
We design and build immersive, interactive sets and environments that transport guests to entirely new worlds—combining craftsmanship, storytelling, and technical precision to create unforgettable experiences in the entertainment and attractions industry.
As a Finish & Scenic Prop Painter, you occupy a unique hybrid role that blends the technical precision of industrial finishing with the creative eye of a fine artist. You won't just be spraying cabinets; you will be bringing stories to life through color and texture. On any given day, you might be applying a pristine, high-gloss stain to a library bookshelf in the morning, and hand-distressing a "rusted" metal prop or airbrushing a magical gradient on a set piece in the afternoon. With a library of hundreds of unique props and sets, no two days are the same.
This is a fast-paced production environment that requires versatility. We are looking for someone who can seamlessly switch between a spray gun and a fine detail brush. You will work alongside CNC operators, carpenters, and assemblers to ensure that every texture and hue meets our high standards. The people who thrive here are adaptable creators who take pride in both the broad strokes and the tiny details, knowing that their work creates the atmosphere our guests will get lost in.
We’re not just a shop—we’re a hospitality-first company. If you are a craftsman who believes that paint is more than just a coating—it’s a character in the story—this is the place for you to grow.

Responsibilities
- Professional Spray Finishing – Operate HVLP guns and spray equipment to apply consistent high-quality stains, sealers, clear coats, and solid paints to large-scale cabinetry, furniture, and wall panels.
- Scenic Artistry & Texturing – Execute detailed artistic techniques including faux finishing, dry brushing, rag rolling, sponging, and hand-painting to create realistic textures (e.g., wood grain, stone, rust, age).
- Detail & Gradient Work – Utilize airbrushes and fine brushes to create smooth gradients, shadows, highlights, and intricate details on props ranging from small hand-held items to large set pieces.
- Color Matching & Theory – Mix paints and stains to match specific pantones, control samples, or existing set pieces with a high degree of color accuracy.
- Multi-Material Versatility – Apply finishes to a wide range of substrates including hard and soft woods, plywood, metals, 3D printed plastics, and foams.
- Surface Prep & Quality – Collaborate with the Prep team to ensure surfaces are ready for paint; perform final quality checks to ensure durability and aesthetic perfection before assembly.
- Production Tracking – Diligently track time, batch numbers, and material usage within production management software to ensure accurate inventory and project timelines.
- Shop Stewardship – Maintain a clean spray booth and mixing station; properly clean guns and equipment daily; assist with general shop tasks like packing trucks or sweeping to support the wider team.
- R&D and Prototyping – Experiment with new techniques and materials to solve unique visual challenges for new game concepts.
Requirements:
Qualifications
- Hybrid Paint Experience – Background in auto body painting, cabinet finishing, theater/set design, or fine arts. We are looking for the intersection of "industrial production" and "artistic flair."
- Portfolio Required – Must be able to show examples of work (photos or physical samples) demonstrating versatility in finish types, textures, and materials.
- Equipment Proficiency – Comfortable setting up, using, and cleaning HVLP spray guns, airbrushes, and pressure pots.
- Artistic Eye – Strong understanding of light, shadow, aging, and color theory; able to look at a concept art rendering and understand how to replicate that look physically.
- Production Mindset – Able to balance artistic perfection with production deadlines; you know when to "linger" on a detail and when to move the piece forward.
- Adaptability – Comfortable switching gears quickly from a large repetitive stain job to a custom, one-off artistic prop.
- Team Player – Works well in a fast-paced team environment; willing to jump in wherever needed to help the team win (even if it means sweeping floors).
- Physical Capability – Able to lift up to 50 lbs, wear a respirator for extended periods, and stand throughout the shift.
- Integrity & Work Ethic – Self-motivated, honest, and accountable; respectful of confidential designs and client intellectual property.
