Descripción completa del empleo
Wee are a leading manufacturer in the flexible packaging industry, specializing in high-speed processing and coating of rolled materials. We operate in a fast-paced, high-tech environment where precision and efficiency are paramount to protecting products for the food, aerospace, and medical sectors.
This is a dynamic, "jack-of-all-trades" role designed for an engineer who hates the idea of sitting at a desk all day. You will serve as the technical bridge between digital design and the production floor—one hour you’re drafting a custom component in CAD, and the next you’re troubleshooting a PLC logic error or assisting the maintenance team with a machine upgrade. We are a lean, agile team where everyone wears multiple hats. If you are a proactive problem-solver who wants a role with high variety, direct impact, and the freedom to get your hands dirty, this is the perfect place to grow your career.
Compensation
- $68,000 – $80,000 / year
Shifts
- 1st Shift | Monday – Friday
- Flexible availability for project-based needs
Benefits:
- Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance
- Paid Time Off (PTO) and Holidays
- 401(k) + Company Match
- Short and Long-Term Disability
Responsibilities
- Mechanical Design & Prototyping – Use CAD (SolidWorks/Inventor) to design new equipment, custom parts, and specialized components from scratch to improve machine reliability.
- Automation & PLC Support – Navigate and edit PLC programs (Siemens preferred) to troubleshoot issues and optimize the logic behind our high-speed metallizing and slitting equipment.
- Electrical System Maintenance – Research and evaluate motion-control components; manage RFQs and purchasing for electrical repairs and system upgrades.
- Process Optimization – Analyze current production workflows and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) projects to reduce scrap, improve machine uptime, and lower costs.
- Project Management – Lead engineering upgrades from concept to completion, including the installation and "de-bugging" of new equipment.
- Maintenance Collaboration – Work side-by-side with the maintenance department to provide technical expertise on complex mechanical and electrical failures.
- Safety & Compliance – Ensure all equipment designs and electrical modifications meet health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Reporting & Analysis – Track system performance and failure trends to identify root causes and implement long-term corrective actions.
Requirements:
Required
- CAD Foundations – Experience drawing parts or assemblies in 3D software (SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.). Must be willing to advance these skills on the job.
- PLC Exposure – Basic understanding of automation and controls. You don't need to be a master programmer, but you must be able to navigate the systems and learn the logic quickly.
- Mechanical Aptitude – A "hands-on" mindset is essential. You should be comfortable using tools and working physically with large-scale industrial machinery.
- Physical Capability – Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and kneel in a manufacturing environment; able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Adaptability – A desire to wear many hats and pivot quickly between design work and floor-level troubleshooting.
Preferred
- Education – A college degree (Engineering or a related technical field) is a plus, but we prioritize actual skills and aptitude over a specific diploma.
- Continuous Improvement – Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or general process optimization.
- High-Voltage Electrical – Experience or comfort working with industrial electrical systems and control panels.
