Full job description

Overview

We are seeking a high-energy, "boots-on-the-ground" Production Supervisor to lead our 2nd Shift operations at our state-of-the-art powder coatings and fabrication facility in Gallatin, TN. This isn't a "sit in the office" role—we need a leader who thrives on the shop floor, understands the rhythm of a high-volume production line, and takes personal pride in hitting numbers without compromising on quality or safety.

As the 2nd Shift lead, you are the heartbeat of the afternoon operations. You will manage a dedicated team across an 8-hour shift (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM), ensuring that our commitments to world-class customers in the medical, automotive, and energy sectors are met daily. We are looking for a culture-builder—someone who can mentor a diverse team, implement Lean/5S principles in real-time, and maintain a sense of "extreme ownership" over the facility during their watch.

If you are a seasoned manufacturing pro who knows how to balance production targets with people development, and you’re looking for a company that rewards results over tenure, this is your next move.

Compensation

  • $70,000 - $90,000

Shift

  • Monday - Friday
  • 2nd: 2:30pm - 11:00pm

Benefits

  • Health & Wellness: Choice of two medical plans + Vision (Eligible 1st of the month after 30 days).
  • Company Paid: Dental insurance, Life insurance, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability.
  • Financial Security: 401(k) with company match (Eligible after 6 months).
  • Time Off: 80 hours of PTO in the 1st year + 80 hours of paid holiday per year.
  • Growth: Tuition reimbursement and clear pathways into Plant Management or Operations leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Shift Execution: Supervise all 2nd shift production activities to ensure efficiency, volume, and cost targets are hit. You’ll be on-site roughly 30–45 minutes before and after the shift to ensure a seamless handoff between crews.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive a culture of 5S and Workplace Organization. You don't just walk past a mess; you fix the process that caused it.
  • Talent Leadership: Take the lead on interviewing, hiring, and coaching. You aren't just a "boss"—you are a coach responsible for documentation, performance reviews, and the professional growth of your team.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Rely on your manufacturing experience to troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and implement Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to improve throughput in our powder coating and assembly lines.
  • Safety & Compliance: Act as the primary safety officer for the 2nd shift, ensuring every team member goes home as healthy as they arrived.

Requirements

Qualifications

The Mindset (Required)

  • Extreme Ownership: You view the 2nd shift as "your" business. You take the blame when things go wrong and give the team the credit when things go right.
  • Servant Leadership: You are willing to jump in and help the team when the pressure is on, earning respect through action rather than just a title.
  • Process Obsessed: You believe that quality is a result of disciplined processes, not luck.

The Background & Technical Skills

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years in a manufacturing environment with at least 2–3 years in a direct leadership/supervisory role.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or an equivalent mix of formal education and "school of hard knocks" shop floor experience.
  • Technical Savvy: A broad understanding of production processes (Powder coating, sheet metal, or electromechanical assembly experience is a major plus).
  • Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between 1st and 3rd shifts, ensuring clear communication with other supervisors and plant leadership.
  • Lean Literacy: Proven track record of implementing Lean, 5S, or Six Sigma principles to improve shop floor efficiency.
