Job Summary
We are hiring skilled CNC Set-Up Machinists to join our growing precision machine shop, heavily focused on manufacturing critical components for the aerospace and defense sectors. Whether your expertise lies in CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, or you are a well-rounded machinist looking to master both, this position offers the perfect runway to elevate your skills.
This role is designed for a machinist who understands the fundamentals and is hungry to advance their experience in complex, high-precision setups. You will take ownership of the setup process, interpreting blueprints, selecting tooling, loading offsets, and proving out first articles before production runs.
Why Join Us?
- Advance Your Craft: This is a prime opportunity to transition into complex, high-precision aerospace and defense work, mastering intricate setups that will truly elevate your career.
- Exciting Growth Phase: We are under new management and are now part of an aerospace and defense-focused startup making massive investments in advanced machinery, technology, and team development.
Compensation
- $30 - $35 / hr based on experience
- Target earnings of $85,000 - $100,000 / yr (Calculated on a 50-hour schedule with consistent overtime)
- Unlimited optional overtime available
- Double-time pay on Sundays
First Shift
- 1st Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Responsibilities
- Setup & Operation: Complete machine setups and safely operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC mills AND/OR 2-axis and 3-axis CNC horizontal lathes.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read aerospace and defense blueprints, blueprints with GD&T callouts, and manufacturing work instructions to successfully prepare jobs for production.
- Tooling & Offsets: Select correct tooling, establish accurate work and tool offsets, and handle machine-side program adjustments to prepare machines for high-precision runs.
- G-Code & Troubleshooting: Use a working knowledge of G-code and Fanuc controls to navigate programs, perform basic troubleshooting, and make necessary offset corrections.
- First-Piece Inspection: Prove out first articles and conduct continuous in-process checks using manual precision measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
- Quality Control: Deliver high-quality parts that consistently meet rigorous aerospace tolerance standards while keeping a safe, clean, and organized workspace.
