Overview
We’re hiring CNC Setup Machinists for a precision machine shop supporting aerospace and semiconductor work in San Jose, California. You’ll set up and machine large, complex, tight-tolerance components using 3-axis mills, 5-axis machines, and CNC lathes.
This is a hands-on role where you own your work from setup through inspection. You’ll interpret drawings and GD&T, make machine adjustments, inspect finished work, and troubleshoot machining issues in a clean, modern, advanced machine shop.

Compensation
- Pay: $35–$45/hr
Hiring on 1st Shift
- Monday - Friday
What You’ll Run
- 3 and 5-axis CNC milling and lathe equipment
- Fanuc, Haas, Siemens, or similar controls
- CMM inspection equipment
- Blueprints, CAD models, tolerances, and GD&T
Responsibilities
- Setups: Set up CNC machines for complex precision components.
- Workholding: Install and indicate fixtures, tooling, and workpieces.
- Programs: Load CNC programs and verify machine setup.
- Offsets: Make machine offsets and adjustments during production.
- Inspection: Perform first-article and in-process dimensional inspections.
- Machining: Maintain effective cutting conditions and tight tolerances.
- Troubleshooting: Correct tool wear, chatter, workholding, and dimensional issues.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of CNC milling experience
- Hands-on experience performing complex CNC setups
- Ability to independently set up CNC mills
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
- Experience making machine offsets and adjustments
- Proficiency with precision measuring equipment
- Strong CNC machining troubleshooting experience
Preferred
- Experience with 5-axis CNC machining
- Experience operating CNC lathes
- Familiarity with Fanuc CNC controls
- Familiarity with Haas CNC controls
- Familiarity with Siemens CNC controls
- Experience using CMM inspection equipment
- Experience interpreting CAD models
